Bankview is an established inner-city community in southwest Calgary, set on a hillside just south of 17th Avenue SW. Its housing is a mix of older low-rise walk-up apartments from the 1960s–70s and newer condo buildings, and its elevation gives many streets views toward downtown and the mountains.
Getting around
Bankview is very walkable — 17th Avenue SW and the South Calgary shops are a short walk (Walk Score in the high-70s to low-80s as of 2025 research). There's no C-Train station in the community itself; bus routes run to downtown, and the Sunalta LRT station is roughly a 15-minute walk from the north edge. It's about a 12–15 minute drive to the Trans-Canada / Crowchild for trips west.
For families
The community sits close to 17th Avenue SW and the South Calgary commercial area, with parks, a community centre, and grocery within reach. The terrain is hilly, and the housing stock leans toward apartments and condos rather than single-family homes, so amenities and walkability are the day-to-day draw.
