Cougar Ridge is a newer community on the western edge of Calgary, built out mostly through the 2000s and 2010s. Housing is predominantly detached homes, and the community sits close to Canada Olympic Park, with direct access to the Trans-Canada Highway for trips west toward the mountains.
Getting around
Cougar Ridge is car-oriented — day-to-day errands generally mean driving (Walk Score around 15–20 as of 2025 research). There's no C-Train station nearby; the closest is the 69th Street West LRT, roughly a 10-minute drive, and transit coverage within the community is limited. The trade-off is highway access: the Trans-Canada / Highway 1 is about 5–10 minutes away via Old Banff Coach Road, which makes westbound and mountain trips quick.
For families
Griffith Woods is nearby, adding natural park space to the community's parks and pathways. Walkable retail is limited; Cougar Ridge Plaza covers basics, with larger shopping a short drive away. Canada Olympic Park is close by for outdoor recreation.
