Hillhurst-Sunnyside is an established inner-city community on the north bank of the Bow River, immediately west and north of the Kensington shopping district. The housing is a mix of original 1920s–1950s homes, newer infill, and some low-rise apartment buildings, and the area is anchored by a very active community association that runs programs and events through the year.
Getting around
Hillhurst-Sunnyside is very walkable (Walk Score in the low-to-high 80s as of 2025 research). The Sunnyside LRT station on the Red Line sits in the community, giving direct C-Train access to downtown and beyond, and Crowchild Trail connects to Highway 1 in roughly 10–15 minutes for trips west. The Kensington Road shops, restaurants, and cinema are a short walk away.
For families
The community has plenty of green space and pathways — Riley Park, the Bow River pathways, and several neighbourhood playgrounds — with the Kensington commercial strip immediately to the south for day-to-day errands. The Sunnyside portion to the east is more residential and sits closest to the LRT station.
