Mahogany is a community in Calgary's deep southeast, developed from the 2000s onward around a 63-acre freshwater lake that serves as its centrepiece. The lake offers a beach, non-motorized boating, and winter skating for residents, and the community has continued to grow alongside it.
Getting around
Mahogany is car-dependent — day-to-day trips generally mean driving (Walk Score in the ~25–35 range as of 2025 research, with minimal transit). There's no C-Train station in the community; it's roughly an 8–12 minute drive to Legacy and about 30–35 minutes to the Trans-Canada / Highway 1 for trips west. The neighbouring Seton area is close by.
For families
The lake is the community's main amenity, with a beach club for residents. Westman Village, a mixed-use development with shops and restaurants, adds walkable commercial within Mahogany, and the Mahogany Village Market provides additional retail. The community is laid out with families in mind, and the deep-south location keeps it close to the broader Seton amenities.
