Mission is an inner-city community south of downtown Calgary, set along the Elbow River and centred on the 4th Street SW commercial strip. Housing is a mix of condos, low-rise apartments, and older heritage homes. Note that parts of Mission sit in a flood-risk zone — areas near the Elbow were affected in the 2013 floods — so it's worth checking the flood mapping for any specific address.
Getting around
Mission is very walkable — shops, cafes, and restaurants along 4th Street SW are a short walk for most of the community (Walk Score in the mid-to-high 80s as of 2025 research). There's no C-Train station within Mission; bus routes connect to downtown and to the Erlton/Stampede LRT station nearby, and it's roughly a 15–20 minute drive to the Trans-Canada / Crowchild for trips west.
For families
The Elbow River pathways run right through the community, and Lindsay Park — home to the Talisman Centre aquatic and recreation facility — is on Mission's edge. Day-to-day amenities and parks are concentrated around 4th Street SW.
