Walden is a newer community in Calgary's deep south, immediately adjacent to Legacy. It started slightly earlier than its neighbour, so it's a bit further along on commercial development, and it carries a mix of housing types. Ravine and wetland pathways run through the community, a natural feature that shapes the everyday scenery.
Getting around
Walden is car-dependent — the Walk Score sits in the low-to-mid 20s and the Transit Score in the mid-teens to low 20s as of 2025 research, and there's no C-Train station in the community. Legacy's commercial area is a roughly 3–5 minute drive, and it's about a 28–33 minute drive to the Trans-Canada via Stoney Trail for trips west.
For families
The community centres on the Walden Gate commercial area plus parks and the ravine pathways, with the shops and services in nearby Legacy and Sheppard close at hand. Everyday errands generally mean a short drive rather than a walk, which is typical of the deep-south communities Walden sits among.
