West Springs is a newer family community on the west edge of Calgary, largely built out through the 2000s and 2010s. It mixes detached homes and townhouses, and is anchored by West Springs Village — a small commercial node with a Sobeys, shops, and restaurants — along with numerous parks and pathways and the nearby Griffith Woods Park.
Getting around
West Springs is car-dependent (Walk Score in the mid-to-high 20s and a low Transit Score as of 2025 research). There's no C-Train station in the community — the 69th Street West LRT is roughly a 10–12 minute drive — and the Trans-Canada Highway west is about 5–10 minutes away, which makes trips toward the mountains straightforward.
For families
The community is well supplied with parks and pathways, with Griffith Woods Park close by for walking and nature access. West Springs Village handles day-to-day errands within the community, and there's an active community association.
